Why Should You Ride a Motorcycle?
Well, we may be a bit biased but we've got more than a few reasons for riding a motorcycle. We can guide you through the easy and quick steps to getting on the road on a motorcycle, whether you're looking for a small engine for comfortable commuting or a growling sports engine to create some adrenaline pumping experiences, we can help you on whatever path you choose.
No more waiting
Traffic? Not for us. Motorcycles are legally allowed to "lane filter" or "lane split" when traffic is stationary or moving below the posted speed limit for the area. As long as the white lines aren't solid, it's perfectly fine.
Lower costs?
It's true. Insurance, finance and road tax are all substantially lower on motorcycles when compared to cars. Meaning you can get on a brand new motorcycle for a lot less than a car. You can maintain and run it for less too, with more economical engines due to the lesser weight.
Break out of the boring commute
Believe us when we say, riding a motorcycle is a thrilling experience, from the moment you get on it's a thrill from start to finish. Feel the wind empower you as you ride, even on your everyday journey. Sure, we're exposed to lesser weather and the cold, but it's worth it when we ride. No matter what you ride, it's fun.
So, if all that didn't convince you. What will? Maybe when we tell you how easy it is to ride. Depending on your age and engine requirements, you can be riding a motorcycle on the same day as your training.
Starting off, you'll need to do a CBT, no matter what motorcycle you want to ride. CBT is a Compulsory Basic Training, where we can get you up to grips with your motorcycle, teaching you the basics to keep you safe on the road. A CBT technically isn't a test, but you'll only receive your certificate when your instructor believes you are safe on the road.
The CBT is usually a one day course, with some road awareness training, some small basic manoeuvres and some safety, you're ready to ride a 50cc engine if you're 16, or up to a 125cc engine if you're 17 or older.
If you're looking to ride a bigger motorcycle, upwards from a 125cc you will need to have A2 entitlement on your licence. This licence is only available from ages 19 and upwards. It will require you to take a theory test along with a practical road test. It will allow you to ride up to a 35Kw engine, which is usually around the 600cc mark, depending on the engine. For more advice on the A2 restriction, please speak to our team regarding the motorcycle you'd like to ride.
After this, if you're still looking for a bigger ride, you'll need the full A test. To get the unrestricted licence, you'll need to have held an A2 licence for 2 years, then take another practical test. If you haven't held the licence for 2 years, you can do a "Direct Access" course which takes you straight to a full license, in usually a week of training. You must be age 24 for the direct access course.
