History of Shirlaws Motorcycles
  • 1928- Leslie B Shirlaw establishes Shirlaws Garage dealing in used cars, Bikes and spares/Repairs
  • 1939-outbereak of 2nd world war
  • 1946- Shirlaws branch out to selling ex war dept. cars and bikes
  • 1950’s- Leslie G Shirlaw joins his Father in the Family business still selling used bikes, supplying new bikes and spare parts
  • 1960’s- Shirlaws move to Princes Street for a more central location in Aberdeen
  • 1970’s- Company name changed to Shirlaws and Shirlaws become main franchise dealer’s for Suzuki, Yamaha, Triumph, Norton, Ducati, Harley, Laverda, Moto-Guzzi, Vespa. The business now run by Leslie G Shirlaw and his wife Barbra. During the 70’s Roy and Pat Shirlaw join the company following in their fathers footsteps.
  • 1980’s- Shirlaws move to the iconic building on the green right in the centre of Aberdeen where the business grew and clothing dept. was added. 1985 See’s Roy and Pat take over the business. Honda franchise added
  • 1990’s-Shirlaws move to our current home Crown Street and see the re-birth of Triumph motorcycles being one of the first dealers to sign up in the UK. The 90’s see Aprilia, Ducati, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha in the shop along with a huge selection of clothing. During this time Shirlaws win an isle of TT with Iain Duffus and a British Championship with Brian Morrison
  • 2000’s- Kawasaki franchise taken on by Roy and in 2007 see’s Craig and Dawn Shirlaw follow in the Family tradition with Craig in Sales and Dawn in administration.
  • 2015- Sees Shirlaws as they are today with Scotland’s largest selection of New Kawasaki, Triumph and used Motorcycles along with the North of Scotland’s largest clothing dept. Craig and Dawn now taking a more day to day running of the business whilst Roy still oversees the business.
